Protein Supplement Bar Reviews

By Chris La Nou

I've been looking the best tasting protein bar, so I decided to order some up. Basically, I chose bars that had 30 grams of protein or more. All the bar flavors were chocolate and/or peanut. Here are my findings:

American Bodybuilding Steel Pro Bar
Consistency: Very tough and hard
Taste: Bad
Comments: I threw this one away after three uncomfortable bites.

MetRx Protein Plus Bar
Consistency: Soft and fluffy
Taste: Good
Comments: A pretty good bar.

Worldwide Pure Protein Bar
Consistency: Hard
Taste: Okay

GEN Lean Machine Bar
Consistency: Hard
Taste: Quite good

Labrada Lean Body Bar
Consistency: Soft, somewhat fluffy
Taste: Good
Comments: A pretty good bar.

Optimum Pro Complex Bar
Consistency: Soft, moist, perfect
Taste: Great! Tasty
Comments: My favorite.

Premier Protein Bar
Consistency: Dry and crumbly
Taste: Bad
Comments: I threw this one away after two bites.

Worldwide Pure Protein cookie (chocolate chip flavor)
Consistency: Powdery (but covered with chocolate)
Taste: Well, it didn't taste like a cookie. It wasn't too bad, though.
Comments: I know it's not a bar, but I couldn't resist the idea of a cookie with 21g of protein.

Overall Comments on bars:
I really didn't like the hard and tough ones...it was too much like getting a workout for my jaw muscles just trying to eat them. Of the rest, I feel the Optimum Pro Complex is the best tasting protein bar. I'm planning on ordering some more.
