Tricep Bench Dip Exercise Instructions

Bench Dips

Purpose of Exercise: A basic exercise for developing the triceps and pectorals (secondary).

Execution of Exercise: Sit between two benches and with your palms on the bench behind you, use the strength of your triceps to lower you towards the ground and to push yourself back up to the starting position.

Important Points: Do not move up and down in a jerky or uncontrolled manner as this exercise can place extreme stress on the shoulder girdle. If there is a choice between this exercise and parallel dips I would opt for the latter as they afford greater development with less risk. Bench Dips can prove useful in developing the strength necessary to be able to do parallel dips and if they are performed correctly are not excessively dangerous
