Choline Definition
What Is Choline?

A lipotropic which metabolizes fats. Also it is being used today for ailments such as: gall bladder, trouble, diabetes, Muscular Dystrophy, glaucoma, arteriosclerosis, senility and memory problems (forgetfulness). A deficiency in choline can lead to cirrhosis and fatty degeneration of liver and hardening of the arteries (arteriosclerosis, arteriosclerosis). Choline is a derivative of the amino acid serine, which is an important component of cell membranes. Choline released from membrane phospholipids is important for the formation of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, and choline is also important in the metabolism of methyl groups. Choline is an organic compound, classified as an essential nutrient and usually grouped within the Vitamin B complex. This natural amine is found in the lipids that make up cell membranes and in the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Adequate intakes (AI) for this micronutrient of between 425 to 550 milligrams daily, for adults, have been established by the Food and Nutrition Board of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences. Its dietary deficiency is not known. Because it is an ubiquitous component.
